Every stop becomes a postcard. This is the journey in order — the same stories we tell on Instagram, kept here so you can read them like a book.
Postcard No. 3Steamboat Springs, Colorado
The Stopover That Stole the Show
Three nights in Steamboat Springs, and — as is our custom — we never touched the car. A sunset ride up the gondola, fall colors along the Yampa River trail: a perfect stopover on the way through Colorado.
Money Chick MomentSteamboat in shoulder season was a steal — a two-bedroom villa with a full kitchen at the base of the gondola, about $150 a night.
Wine Guy VerdictPaolo Scavino 2021 Barolo with dinner at Cafe Diva — which is also how it became the Wine Guy’s Wine of the Week.
We booked a week in Park City and — happy accident — the Food & Wine festival was on. Seven nights, two tasting events, two wine dinners, and a brunch we went back for twice. Weekends now happen whenever.
Money Chick NoteSeven nights of lodging cost us about $400 total — one of our timeshare bonus weeks. The room was the deal; the wine was the point.
We spent 30+ years each climbing the ladder — hers in money, his in wine. Then we retired, sold the Napa house, and decided to live out of the journey instead. First, the test drives: Australia, New Zealand, and 27 states. Then the real thing.
